He's been out since breaking his OTHER hand.

The Detroit Red Wings have already played the majority of the 2022-23 season without top forward Tyler Bertuzzi, and after a short return to action, he was once again right back on the shelf with the exact same ailment.

He's broken both of his hands on separate occasions, enough to make anyone go out of their minds. He underwent successful surgery yet again, and has been working his way towards a return to action.

And the good news is that he's ready to return for Detroit's next game. According to head coach Derek Lalonde, Bertuzzi will be in the lineup tomorrow night when the Red Wings host the Winnipeg Jets:

His return will be a welcome presence for the Red Wings, who are struggling right now having lost three straight. And not surprisingly, he'll start on the top line alongside his usual line mates in Dylan Larkin and Lucas Raymond.

“It’s a line that’s had some success,” coach Derek Lalonde explained today. “Unfortunately, Bert’s been out most of the year. We haven’t had too many looks at that line together. We’ll give them an opportunity tomorrow and see how it does.”

For Bertuzzi, all he can chalk it up to is a case of bad luck.

“Obviously, two broken hands, a little bit of bad luck,” Bertuzzi said. “This one’s a little bit different. It’s my thumb. The other one was kind of my hand. With both I was able to skate and work out the whole time. I won’t be a step behind when I come back.”

The Red Wings and Jets will face off from Little Caesars Arena tomorrow night starting at 7:00 PM EST.
