Grinched!

Detroit Red Wings fans have been praying for a Christmas Miracle for weeks now and for a brief moment they thought it had come true.

But like often happens at Christmas time, Red Wings fans got Grinched.

Fans fell for a phony account that reported GM Steve Yzerman is looking to move on from head coach Derek Lalonde but that he was caught in a power struggle with owner Chris Ilitch. Seems plausible, right? That's the genius of it all.

Unfortunately, it's a bogus report from an account that claims to be a 'parody' of ESPN insider Greg Wyshynski.

Check it out:

Looks like Wyshynski, sounds like a plausible situation... but it's all made up.

Scroll through the comments though and you'll see Red Wings fans eating up the news as if it's gospel. I feel sorry for these fans who will wake up tomorrow expecting a brand new head coach wrapped under the Christmas tree.
