The Detroit Red Wings have a contract dispute on their hands.

National Hockey League insider Craig Custance of the Athletic is reporting that 26-year-old forward Tomas Tatar is among the many players who have filed for contract arbitration prior to today's 5pm deadline.

Tatar's decision likely comes off the heels of being unable to negotiate a new deal with the Red Wings and general manager Ken Holland, although the former second round pick will certainly have a case to make for himself coming off back to back seasons with 45 or more points.

The Red Wings are entering an interesting phase as they try to move past the previous era of players such as Pavel Datsyuk and Johan Franzen, and that may make them hesitant to commit to Tatar for the long-term.
