Ideal, this is not.
If the Detroit Red Wings are to beat their division rival Tampa Bay Lightning for the third time this year, they'll have to do so without a key member of their forward lineup.
Michael Rasmussen, who has truly been coming into his own for Detroit this season, was felled during the 1st period of tonight's game at Little Caesars Arena when he blocked a shot from bruising Bolts defenseman Zach Bogosian. Rasmussen was clearly shaken up and required assistance to get back to the bench and eventually down the tunnel to the Detroit dressing room.
And unfortunately, he won't be returning to the game. The official Twitter account for the Red Wings confirmed the news:
In 55 games played this season for Detroit, Rasmussen has lit the lamp 10 times along with adding 19 assists.
