The Detroit Red Wings announced today that forward Tyler Bertuzzi will be out of the lineup for 4 to 6 weeks with an upper body injury.
Check it out:
The 27 year old Bertuzzi suffered the injury during the second period of Saturday’s 5-2 win over the New Jersey Devils after awkwardly blocking a shot. He left that game and did not return to action.
Bertuzzi had a lot of expectations placed on him by fans and the media following a breakout campaign in 2021-22. He put up 30 goals and 62 points in 68 games for the Red Wings last season and looked poised this season to produce even more. His recovery timeframe for this injury means he'll miss someone in the neighbourhood of 15-25 games total.
