Red Wings hint at impending lineup change

They're sorely lacking offense right now.

The Detroit Red Wings did plenty of things right last night against the high-powered attack of the Edmonton Oilers, but as they've done so many times this season in frustrating fashion, they weren't able to generate enough offense of their own. And despite keeping Edmonton's dynamic superstar duo of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisatl mostly in check, Edmonton's depth came through en route to a 5-2 triumph at Little Caesars Arena.

The Red Wings were back in practice this morning as they make preparations to face another northern Canadian team in the Calgary Flames tomorrow night, and ahead of the matchup, head coach Derek Lalonde hinted at a lineup change.

As you may remember, forward Filip Zadina has returned to action (albeit with the American Hockey League affiliate Grand Rapids Griffins) after having missed considerable time with a broken bone in his leg from having blocked a shot in early November. And it sounds as though he could be back in the lineup as soon as tomorrow night.

Per Detroit Free Press beat writer Helene St. James:

"Lalonde said Zadina may play Thursday vs. Flames, hasn’t fully decided yet. Zadina, Suter, Kubalik & Sundqvist rotated on fourth line at Wednesday practice. Suter had strong game vs. Oilers and Sundqvist is on PP, so Kubalik would be odd man out."

Tomorrow's game begins at 7:00 PM EST.
