He's back in town tonight.
Former Detroit Red Wings head coach Jeff Blahsill is back in town tonight as a member of the opposition, as he took a job with the Tampa Bay Lightning as an assistant on good friend Jon Cooper's staff.
As you may remember, Blashill spent seven years behind the bench in his role as head coach, qualifying for the postseason only one time. It certainly was past time for Detroit and Blashill to part ways, especially the way the last three months of last season ended.
The Red Wings already have faced Blashill and the Lightning once this season, a 4-2 Detroit win in Tampa Bay earlier this month. But during tonight's game at Little Caesars Arena, the Red Wings paused and thanked Blashill publicly for his years in Detroit.
