Red Wings lose defenseman immediately in Buffalo to injury

The Detroit Red Wings are in western New York for a divisional clash against the Buffalo Sabres, and have already found themselves shorthanded just seconds after puck drop.

Defenseman Ben Chiarot has departed the game after  injuring himself on his first shift of the night: 

UPDATE: Thankfully, Chiarot has returned to action and appears to have suffered no ill effects from his fall early on. 

Chiarot has enjoyed a better season in his second year with Detroit, boasting a +8 rating in 23 games along way two goals and five assists.
