Losing to the New York Rangers by a tight 3-2 final score at Madison Square Garden wasn't the only setback experienced by the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday night. They also lost defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere to injury after he was hit from behind by Will Cuylle; he did not return.

After the hit, teammate Klim Kostin stepped in and immediately challenged Cuylle.

According to head coach Derek Lalonde afterward, Gostisbehere was still under evaluations.

"He's still get evaluated," Lalonde said. "He was hit from behind into the boards, the spotters pulled him and they were still evaluating him."

Gostisbehere, in his first season with the Red Wings after signing as a free agent over the summer, has scored five goals with 13 assists in the 20 games he's played. If he was unable to go tonight against the Chicago Blackhawks, expect to see veteran Jeff Petry slot back into the lineup.
