Red Wings prospect slapped with multi-game suspension

A longtime Detroit Red Wings prospect and former Michigan State Spartans forward will be sitting for the next few games.
Forward Taro Hirose, who is currently playing his 5th campaign with Detroit's American Hockey League affiliate Grand Rapids Griffins, will be suspended for the next two games after a brutal slash that he delivered to Cole Guttman of the Rockford Ice Hogs; his opponent will miss the next 3-4 weeks as a result of suffering an injury on the play.
The AHL announced the suspension earlier today:
Hirose has scored nine goals with 26 assists in 50 games played this season for the Griffins. He's appeared in 60 career NHL games, all with the Red Wings, and scored four goals with 16 assists.
