Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press has reported that Ken Holland gathered all his scouts in Detroit this week for a major meeting. When reached for comment this is what the Red Wings general manager had to say:
“Just thought it would be good to touch base now,” Holland said, “instead of waiting till late January. It’s an opportunity for us to talk about if a player fits, and the cost,” Holland said. “I don’t know if I’m going to make a trade or not. Historically, trades happen closer to the trade deadline. Right now, you just watch your team every day, and so far, lots of good has been going on, and hopefully it continues.”
There has been speculation that the Red Wings are interested in Tyler Myers, Ken Holland's name has come up more than once in rumors swirling around Myers but by all account the asking price is too high. It appears now that the Red Wings my make a move for Washington Capitals defense Mike Green, who despite slowing down lately on a struggling team has shown moments of brilliance throughout his career. It remains unclear what the Red Wings would have to give up, but the asking price for Myers was reported to be Nyquist or Mantha and Holland made it clear both players were untouchable.
