Detroit Red Wings rookie defenseman Nick Jensen was all set to make his National Hockey League debut on Monday night but it was not to be. Instead the Carolina Hurricanes were forced to cancel that game and Jensen was denied.

Jensen took it all in stride however and he says it will make for a great, and very unique, story one day and we have to agree with him.

"Yesterday was an interesting first debut," Jensen said as per NHL.com. "It was kind of funny. It's going to make a good story one day, obviously. It was kind of tough getting ready for the game, 10 minutes before we're on the ice, I'm putting my gear on and find out we have a delay. Thinking we're going in 20 minutes or so, ended up waiting around two hours, legs started tightening up anyways so I guess it's a good thing they called it. A lot of guys were out of it. I'm in tonight so I've got another game to look forward to, another game to get ready for."

Thankfully he won't have to wait much longer, as the Red Wings face off against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday night, and Jensen will be in the line up.
