Red Wings sign veteran forward James van Riemsdyk

This just in, the Detroit Red Wings have signed 36 year old forward James van Riemsdyk to a one year contract.

The former 2nd overall pick (2007 NHL Draft) put up 16 goals and 36 points in 71 games with the Columbus Blue Jackets last season.

The Red Wings are looking to take a step forward in 2025-26 and are hoping to make the playoffs for the first time in nearly a decade. They added goaltender John Gibson in a trade with the Anaheim Ducks and signed defensemen Jacob Bernard-Docker and Ian Mitchell in free agency earlier today.
