A scary moment for the Wings.

Honestly I think you can make points on both sides when it comes to whether or not this was a good or bad hit, but one thing is certain, it had a big impact.

The Red Wings and their fan base collectively held their breath on Tuesday night when they watched rookie sensation Dylan Larkin get absolutely crushed by a big hit from Montreal Canadiens defenseman Alexei Emelin. That concern was only amplified when Larkin was slow to get up, clearly showing that he had been hurt on the play, although much to his credit he would remain in the game, and eat up over 15 minutes of ice time.

As we stated before this hit was a borderline call, and we have no problem with the officials ruling it a penalty on the play, and we also took no issue with Red Wings forward Justin Abdelkader coming to the defense of the young star forward after what he likely felt was a dirty hit. That being said it also negated the powerplay for the Red Wings, and they would eventually fall 4-3 to the Canadiens in what was a very big game for Detroit's playoff hopes.
