Red Wings starting to get back on track

For a few games we were all wondering if that amazing playoff streak might be in jeopardy. The Wings were struggling going 3-5-0 over an eight game span and even seeing the Philadelphia Flyers pass them for the final wild card spot. However, the Wings dug deep and found their winning ways again and have now won 2 straight. They have even built a 3 point lead over those pesky Flyers. The Flyers do have 2 games in hand but Detroit can only focus on what they can do right now.

It would be the perfect time for the Wings to string a few more wins together but things won't be getting any easier. Nine of their remaining ten games are against inter conference teams and only four of those games are against teams who probably won't make the playoffs. Three of which are against original six teams and those are often tightly played games. The other conference rivals games will have important impacts on the standings to determine playoff positioning. The only Western team they face is the Minnesota Wild and they are fighting for their playoff lives right now.

So how do the Wings stack up? They can definitely control their own destiny. If the Flyers stumble, that will be very positive for the Wings because they are the only team that might really have a chance to catch Detroit. However, let's just win a whole bunch of the remaining games and clinch our spot without have to worry of who is chasing us.
