Red Wings vs Maple Leafs rescheduled on Sunday night.

The National Hockey League has announced an adjustment to it's schedule on Sunday.

The National Hockey League has announced something of a curious rescheduling of tonight's game between the Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs.

On Sunday, the National Hockey League initially announced that tonight's game would go on as planned with the two teams set to face off in Toronto at Scotiabank Arena at 7:00 pm EST. Even as recently as just 4 hours ago the league sent out a reminder that tonight's game would take place at that very same 7:00 pm time slot.

However in a sudden and unexplained turn of events, the league has announced that tonight's game will be bumped back a half hour, with the new scheduled start time set for 7:30 pm EST.

What makes the decision a curious one is that the NHL is now moving tonight's game closer to a National Football League game scheduled between the Los Angeles Rams and Detroit Lions later this evening, that game is set to begin at 8:15 pm EST. You would think the NHL would want to move away from the potential competition for eyeballs, especially in the Detroit market, but they have clearly done the opposite here.

Stay tuned for more details.

Update: The delay appears to be related to the winter weather having negatively impacted the Red Wings travel, stay tuned for more updates.
