Once upon a time, Rene Bourque was a sought-after 27-goal scorer in the National Hockey League.
After jumping around from the Chicago Blackhawks to the Calgary Flames, Montreal Canadiens, Anaheim Ducks and the Columbus Blue Jackets (last season), the 34-year-old continues to hope that he can be of service to a team.
NBC Sports reports that the Colorado Avalanche have offered Bourque a professional tryout contract. How much of an impact he will have, should he make the cut out of training camp, is anybody’s guess as he managed only 8 points in 49 games last year before being placed on waivers.
The unrestricted free agent’s 6-year, $3.33 million AAV contract expired in July and he’ll surely have to take a significant pay decrease.
