According to a report from Russian hockey insider Igor Eronko, former Vancouver Canucks defenseman Nikita Tryamkin is planning an NHL return for 2020-21.

Check it out:

The 6 foot, 7 inch, 265 pound Russian’s contract with KHL club Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg expires in April of this year and the Canucks retain his rights through next season. Still, there’s no guarantee that Tryamkin ends up with his former NHL team.

“We feel Nikita can play for any club in the NHL,” Tryamkin’s agent Todd Diamond said via text message to Patrick Johnson of The Province. “Vancouver has his exclusive NHL rights, he is familiar with the city, ownership, management and staff, and we will engage in talks after Nikita’s KHL season.”

“The team and coaching staff is much different from when Nikita was last in Vancouver and we view that very positively.”

Canucks general manager Jim Benning hasn’t confirmed whether or not Tryamkin’s is in his plans, but it seems he hasn’t ruled the idea.

“Obviously he’s on our reserve list,” Benning said Thursday morning. “Our pro scouts continue to watch and keep tabs on him. When his season is over and his contract is up, I’ll speak with Todd.”

“Nikita is a guy we know can play in the league. He’s a good skater for his size and he can make a good first pass.”

Can you imagine a Tryamkin and Tyler Myers pairing? Twin Towers, baby!
