If you're like me and you've spent every day since 1993 just waiting for Gary Bettman to either step down or get fired as NHL commissioner... well... I've got bad news for ya...
According to a report from NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, Bettman is set to sign a five year contract extension that will see him continue to manage the NHL well into his third decade as league commissioner.
From Friedman's most recent 32 Thoughts column for Sportsnet:
At the Board of Governors, Commissioner Gary Bettman happily told everyone, "I plan on being here for a long time.” Sounds like a five-year agreement is being formalized, but if there are any curveballs involved with that — I’m not aware of them.
