The Pittsburgh Penguins are set to visit President Donald Trump in Washington, later tonight, but the NHL commissioner Gary Bettman will not be attending the White House along with them.
The Pens' visit was certainly controversial in the last few weeks, following Trump's comments on NFL players taking a knee during the national anthem. Within a few hours on Trump's comments, the Penguins have reiterated their desire to attend the White House visit.
Bettman is scheduled to be in Las Vegas this evening for the Golden Knights' home opener. The commissionner is not required to attend every White House visit with the Stanley Cup defending champions.
However, would Bettman have made the effort to go if Barack Obama was still in office?
