The Boston Bruins have made it clear that one of their top offseason priorities was working out a new deal for forward Brad Marchand, and it's no surprise, he is one of the faces of the organization and among it's core forwards.

It doesn't sound like getting the deal done will be easy however, as reports are surfacing of major contract demands from Marchand, but with him coming off a career best 37 goal season that should not come as a major surprise. It's a big demand however with ESPN's Shawn Hitcheon reporting that a source has informed him Marchand is asking for 7 years at $49 million.

It would be a significant raise for Marchand who is making $4.5 million for the 2015-2017 season, and with both Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci also hovering right around the $7 million dollar mark it would have the Bruins committed long term to three forwards for roughly $21 million against the cap per season.

This will be a situation worth watching very closely.
