Report: Brad Marchand receives the longest suspension of his NHL career
Marchand feels the wrath of NHL Player Safety for going after Penguins goalie Tristan Jarry.
HockeyFeed
This just in, Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand has been suspended for six games for roughing Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry.
The six game suspension is officially the longest of Marchand's career and you have to think that his long rap sheet led to such a hefty penalty.
In case you missed it, here's what Marchand was suspended for:
This is the 8th time Marchand has been suspended by the NHL.
Check out this rap sheet:
March 17, 2011 -- Suspended 2 games for elbow to R.J. Umberger
Dec. 12, 2011 -- Fined $2,500 for slew-footing Matt Niskanen
Jan. 9, 2012 -- Suspended 5 games for clipping Sami Salo
Jan. 16, 2015 -- Suspended 2 games for slew-footing Derick Brassard
Nov. 13, 2015 -- Fined $5,000 for roughing Gabriel Landeskog
Dec. 30, 2015 -- Suspended 3 games for clipping Mark Borowiecki
Jan. 26, 2017 -- Fined $10,000 for tripping Niklas Kronwall
April 6, 2017 -- Suspended 2 games for spearing Jake Dotchin
Jan. 25, 2018 -- Suspended 5 games for elbowing Marcus Johansson
Nov. 20, 2021 -- Suspended 3 games for slew footing Oliver Ekman-Larsson
To be honest, I kind of expected a longer suspension given Marchand's history and the absolute reckless stupidity of his attack on Jarry. But then again, this is NHL Player Safety we're talking about... trying to predict their decisions is like predicting the weather a month in advance.
