After losing four in a row,the Boston Bruins look more and more like a team that needs to make a few moves before the trade deadline to help their playoff push, but they're apparently trying to unload some salary first. A man with a lot of inside connections in the NHL now says The Bruins are actively attempting to trade defenseman Dennis Seidenberg and forward Loui Eriksson. According to a report by Sportsnet insider Nick Kypreos. "They need to alleviate some of that cap space. They want to add a center, or at least an impact forward that can lessen some of the physical pressure on a guy like Lucic,” said Kypreos. “But they need to subtract money first, and the feeling is that Dennis Seidenberg’s name is now out there." Seidenberg is signed through the 2017-18 season at an average annual value of $4 million, while Eriksson's $4.5-million cap hit comes off the books at the end of the season. "Loui Eriksson has never been a good fit, and he's never been that typical Boston Bruins type of player that they were hoping for," added Kypreos. "Maybe trading Loui Eriksson can make them forget about (Tyler) Seguin." Eriksson has 68 points in 116 games with Boston but his offensive production pales in comparison to what he did as a member of the Dallas Stars, where he cracked the 70-point plateau in three consecutive seasons. The Bruins rely heavily on Seidenberg, who is one of the team's leaders in time on ice in even-strength and shorthanded situations. However, they could see a nice return for him as the market for defencemen is very hot right now. We may see some new faces in the Black and Gold sooner rather than later.
