The Boston Bruins have made some major changes during the course of this offseason and on Thursday general manager Don Sweeney had yet another announcement to make.

On Thursday Sweeney told reporters that one of Boston's most consistent stars, goaltender Tuukka Rask, would be taking a reduced role between the pipes in an effort to lighten his workload.

“We have to find the ideal number of games for him,” Sweeney said as per the Boston Globe. “It’ll be less than what he played last year.”

It's hard to imagine this not being for the best, Rask has shouldered a heavy workload in recent years and the extra rest could help him perform to his full potential down the stretch.

The question for Boston now becomes who will fill in for the Bruins when Rask is resting on the sideline. It appeared at one point in time that Malcolm Subban was the heir apparent, but after disastrous performance in his NHL debut, the only NHL game on his resume players like Jeremy Smith and Zane McIntyre may see some work.
