Report: Bruins make a list ditch effort to retain Krug

According to multiple online reports, the Boston Bruins have received significant interest in pending unrestricted free agent Torey Krug over the past 48 hours. Rear Admiral of the Spittin' Chiclets podcast reported just yesterday that the Bruins will trade Krug's exlusive negotiating rights as early as today with the Colorado Avalanche, Florida Panthers, Vegas Golden Knights and Detroit Red Wings all amongst the suitors.

Additionally, TSN insider Frank Seravalli confirmed RA's report but also mentions the fact that the Bruins have made a last ditch effort to retain Krug offering him a six year deal at $6.5 million per season.

Unfortunately, that simply won't be enough to keep Krug on the B's. He's likely going to command $8 million or even more on his next contract, especially if he indeed heads to free agency. Because of this, don't be surprised if the Bruins in fact deal Krug and his negotiating rights sometime this week.
