Tampa Bay Lightning head coach Jon Cooper informed the media today that forwards Anthony Cirelli and Brayden Point will miss the next two games due to injury and that their status for Team Canada at the upcoming 2026 Winter Olympics is not yet known.

Point, of course, has been out of the lineup for nearly three weeks now so the news on his status isn't entirely surprising. Sources indicate that Chicago Blackhawks star in the making Connor Bedard would be Point's replacement. Cirelli though is an interesting player, he's a two way forward who is/was expected to play a checking role for Team Canada. Don't be surprised if Florida Panthers forward Sam Bennett is tabbed as Cirelli's replacement if needed.

Stay tuned.
