Although the Bruins have played much better lately in getting points in 4 of their last 5 games, they still stand one spot out of the playoffs. The Bruins are still in desperate need of additional scoring, and nearly every trade rumor we have heard this season has involved the Bruins. Today GM Peter Chiarelli addressed the rumors surrounding the team and what it will take for a deal to get done. Chiarelli told DJ Bean of WEEI.com [The roster has] underperformed. The roster’s not markedly different from last year. There’s a couple of notable players [gone], but there are a lot of teams that have less cumulative money spent than us that are doing better than us. Listen, things go in cycles, right? I understand that you can’t hit it out of the ballpark all the time, and myself included. Right now we’re starting to turn the corner a little bit and it’s good to see. I’ve been trying to bolster the forward group, and players are hard to come by. Certainly I’m not going to force any deal. I mean, it’s slow. The trade freeze ends tomorrow at 11:59 p.m. Could the Bruins welcome a new addition by New Years?
