Bad news for the Red Wings.

New clarifications in the expansion draft rules has resulted in a number of players previously thought to be safe from the expansion process being exposed, which could result in some headaches for the National Hockey League general managers negatively impacted by the ruling.

Most notable among the list of players newly exposed to the draft is former first overall pick Anthony Mantha who has already played in limited role for the Red Wings, and was projected to be a big part of their future, although admittedly he has stumbled a bit on his way up to the big leagues.

This will no doubt infuriate general manager Ken Holland but he's not the only to suffer, there are a number of players impacted by the ruling and a number of unhappy NHL general managers.

William Carrier (Buffalo Sabres)

 Emile Poirier (Calgary Flames)

Hunter Shinkaruk (Calgary Flames)

Ryan Hartman (Chicago Blackhawks)

Jonathan-Ismael Diaby (Nashville Predators)

Ryan Pulock (New York Islanders)

Kerby Rychel (Toronto Maple Leafs)
