When it was announced that on Tuesday night that a public vote went against a proposed Tempe Sports and Entertainment district that would have kept the Arizona Coyotes in the East Valley city, forward and one of the faces of the franchise Clayton Keller tweeted out a sad face, in what we believe is a reaction to the town’s decision.

But his own father reportedly tweeted worst. As the Coyotes made a statement, saying that they were “very disappointed Tempe voters did not approve Propositions 301, 302, and 303”, Keller’s father responded to the tweet by saying that his son will not be with the Coyotes at the start of the 2023-24 and that he expects some of his teammates to leave as well or not sign with the team. (On Wednesday morning, the tweet had been deleted...)

Rumor: Clayton Keller’s father tweets out that his son will leave Arizona!

The Coyotes played their home games at Mullett Arena on the campus of Arizona State University this season. They had played at Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona, since 2003 before the city ended its lease with the team after the 2021-22 season. And we do not know what the future will look like as of today. However, Bill Daly confirmed the Coyotes will remain at the 4,600-seat Mullett Arena on the Arizona State University campus for the 2023–24 season.

But apparently, Keller’s father knows what the future will be for his son: and that’s a trade out of Arizona. Keller signed an eight-year $57.2 million contract in September 2019 which took effect in the 2020-21 season.

The 24-year-old is good, putting up 86 points including 37 goals, in 82 games this season. But according to his father, he could be recording points elsewhere next season…
