One has to wonder if he should step back out onto the ice.

You never want to hear about a player suffering a long-term injury, but in this particular case it's a little more difficult to feel bad than normal.

Veteran forward Mikhail Grabovski won't be playing for the foreseeable future, his team the New York Islanders announced on Monday that Grabovski will begin the season on long-term injured reserve, and furthermore it's unclear when or if he will return to the line up.

It's sad because Grabovski was a skilled player when he was healthy enough to suit up, however his career has been marred by a number of concussions, concussions that came almost exclusively from hits he took while skating with his head pointed straight down at the ice. Despite that fact Grabovski never seemed to learn from his mistakes, and continued to suffer concussions in an almost predictable fashion.

The long-term injured reserve will apply retroactively to the 16th of March, the last time he suited up for the Islanders, and with no clear sign of a potential return one has to wonder if a return would even be in the best interest of the player's health.
