Report: Daley to undergo MRI, may have serious injury

The Detroit Red Wings faced the New York Rangers Friday night in a classic Original 6 matchup - but the night did not go the way of the visiting team in more ways that one.

Not only did the Red Wings fall 2-0 in overtime, but they also lost the services of veteran defenseman Trevor Daley after awkwardly colliding with Paul Carey of the Rangers.

Here's the sequence in question.

Daley was down for an extended period of time, in apparent "writhing" pain - but he eventually got up on his own power. It did not look good.

Daley did not return to the game, and via head coach Jeff Blashill, the veteran will undergo an MRI to determine the severity of his injury.

An update will likely be posted tonight.
