Report: Decision on Benning's future in the Canucks organization is imminent

Woah. Do you agree with this?

The Vancouver Canucks are off to a respectable start to this season, sporting an 8-6-2 record in the early goings.

Jim Benning is widely considered as one of the weaker general managers around the NHL, but ownership doesn't seem to agree.

"I'm optimistic we're going to come to an agreement with him," team owner Francesco Aquilini told Sportsnet 650.

One must not forget that the Canucks finished second last in the NHL in 2016-17, only ahead of the lowly Colorado Avalanche. With several of their key players aging, including the Sedin twins and Alex Edler, the team still has a ways to go before becoming the contender they used to be.

Youngsters such as Bo Horvat and Brock Boeser are huge bright spots for the team, but has Benning done enough to earn himself a contract extension?

This is the final year on his term and it might be the right time to make a change.

What do you think?
