He won't be getting too comfortable in Montreal again.

It's been nearly a week since the blockbuster trade that sent waves throughout the National Hockey League went down, as Erik Karlsson was sent to the Pittsburgh Penguins from the San Jose Sharks in a deal that also included the Montreal Canadiens. Arriving back in Montreal from the Penguins was veteran defenseman Jeff Petry, who already played several years with the Habs once before.

But as we indicated earlier in the week, it already appears as though the Habs are making plans to swap Petry yet again. And according to a newly released report, this seemed to be the plan all along.

David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period indicated on social media that Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes was already active with his fellow NHL GM's in letting them know that Petry would soon be available from his team before the Karlsson three team trade even went down.

He wrote:

"Around the middle of last week, as things seemed to be heading in this direction and the news started to spread that the three-team transaction was going to happen, the Montreal Canadiens started calling other teams to let them know they were going to acquire Jeff Petry and that he would already be available on the trade market."

In Petry's first and only season with the Penguins, he scored five goals with 26 assists. In 864 career NHL games, he's scored 92 goals with 261 assists. Where is he going to end up next?
