The Bruins have gotten rid of some players that really made Bruins fans question the direction of their club. It's a long list after all that includes names like Seguin, Boychuk, Thornton, and you can now add Hamilton and Lucic to that list. In the case of Dougie Hamilton however there has been a clear message in the media that it was he who wanted out, and not the Bruins that pushed him out via trade. When Hamilton was officially introduced as a member of the Calgary Flames on Tuesday he had a different version of the story.
“I always thought I was going to be a Bruin for life and always had that vision that I was only going to wear one jersey in the NHL,” Hamilton said as per Yahoo! Sports. “I’m really thankful to that organization for the opportunity I got my first few years and the development I got and everything, so it’s an organization ... the fans are unbelievable and teammates and everything. It’s something I enjoyed a lot being there.”
It's a very different tale, one that lends credence to the rumors that a member of Bruins management called Hamilton an "uppity kid." It also has to make Bruins fans, who were very unhappy to see him go, wonder just how hard Boston worked to keep him on the roster.
