Eight teams in the National Hockey League's biggest rival hockey league are in danger of being shut down.

According to a report from Russian reporter Slava Malamud the Kontinental Hockey League has threatened to fold several of their franchises after reports of players not being paid have began to surface.

Malamud originally reported that four KHL teams owed players payment dating back as far as three months, but the story gets much worse. According to Malamud there are four additional teams who haven't paid some of their players dating all the way back to the 2014-2015 KHL season. One has to wonder how the league could allow this to happen under their watch.

No timeline has been given on when or how the KHL will enforce it's decision.
