Flames shake things up.

The Calgary Flames are shaking things up, or at least Calgary Flames head coach Geoff Ward is prior to facing the Dallas Stars this evening.

According to a report from Calgary Flames insider Wes Gilbertson, the Flames have made the decision to scratch forwards Dillon Dube and Michael Frolik this evening as well as defenseman Oliver Kylington against Dallas. The move does not seem to be motivated by the performance of the players who have been sat this evening, but rather by a desire on the part of Ward to get his team "bigger" for whatever reason against the Dallas Stars.

""Sometimes you don't make decisions based on what a guy is not doing. Sometimes, you make a decision based on tailoring your lineup to the opposition. So, for us, it's more that in this case tonight - more than anything else - we want to get a little bit of a bigger lineup in there, a little bit more of a physical presence in our lineup. So we made the switches that we feel are going to give us the opportunity to have that look."

It seemed that Ward wanted to take special care to make sure that this did not come off as a lack of faith in Dillon Dube.

"For Dillion, I think he gets a chance now to sit up top. He gets a chance to watch some things, watch some guys play on both teams, and we'll ask him questions between periods and after the game - what he thinks, what he sees. For him, that is part of his education as a young player. But we're happy with the way he's playing."

We won't have to wait long to see if the changes will pay off as the Flames are about to hit the ice this evening.
