The Philadelphia Flyers have been dealt a tough blow.

According to a report from the official National Hockey League website the Flyers have lost one of their top defensemen, veteran Michael Del Zotto, and he will be out for the long term.

While the report did not disclose the specific details of the injury, it has been reported as a "lower-body injury" and the recovery time is expected to be somewhere in the range of four to five weeks.

It's unclear when he suffered the injury either, although it would likely be safe to assume it happened sometime during Thursday's preseason games.
