The Philadelphia Flyers are expected to announce plans for a statue of longtime owner Ed Snider outside the team’s arena. This according to a report from Flyers beat reporter Dave Isaac

Snider was the architect and mastermind behind the NHL’s expansion into the city of Philadelphia. He funded and managed the construction of the team’s original home, the Spectrum Center, and owned the Flyers from their inception in 1967.

Snider was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1988 and sadly passed away in 2016.
