Report: Former Toronto mayor elected to H.H.O.F. board of directors.

In a surprise move, one of the most polarizing figures in the city of Toronto is bringing his unique brand of direction to the Hockey Hall of Fame board of directors. Toronto City Councillor - and former mayor Rob Ford has been appointed to the museum's board of directors. Fellow Councillors Mark Grimes and Stephen Holyday were also chosen to join the board. Ford will not be involved in the Hall of Fame's induction process, but he believes he can use his experience as a hockey fan to help with promotion of our great game. "When people call me they know they're getting someone that's experienced," he told The Canadian Press on Saturday. "I've got season tickets to the Leafs and I'm obsessed with hockey, and obviously football, but hockey's my number one sport and I'm going to try to just keep pushing it." Ford is battling cancer and will undergo surgery to remove a tumor in May, but he insists his seat on the Hockey Hall of Fame board of directors will be more than a ceremonial one. "Some people like the prestige of it, I like the action. I like rolling up my sleeves and showing up to meetings and getting it done," he said. "What I don't like is when people sign up and want to go to these boards and commissions and they don't show up." Congratulations Mr. Ford!
