Report: Full scale fire-sale coming for Canucks

Horvat? Gone. Boeser? Gone. Pettersson, Hughes and Demko too?!?!?

The Vancouver Canucks have been an absolute side-show circus this season and the grande finale could come March 3rd at the NHL's Trade Deadline.

We of course know already that names like Bo Horvat, Brock Boeser and Luke Schenn have all hit the rumor headlines this season, but until this past week it was thought that Elias Pettersson, Quinn Hughes and Thatcher Demko were the team's untouchables. But... maybe not too much longer. Sportsnet NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reports today that it could be a full on "fire-sale" for the Canucks at the trade deadline and that the team could look at moving some of their young core players, as well.

From Friedman on today's episode of Tim & Friends:

If I'm the Canucks there's no way I'm trading any one of Pettersson, Hughes and Demko. First off, all three players are signed to good contracts. That's really saying something for the Canucks because they're a team full of lousy contracts. To me, any productive player on a good contract is worth holding onto. There's also the fact that the Canucks would be selling low with any of these three guys, especially Demko. Why sell when stock is at its lowest? They missed the opportunity to sell JT Miller when his stock was high and they look like they're going to maximize their return on a Horvat trade, but I don't see how they end up winning any kind of trade involving Petterson, Hughes or Demko.

Thoughts, Canucks fans?
