If you think the Blackhawks are finished as a result of needing to tear down their team to make it under the cap you may have to think again. While the Blackhawks have parted ways with some players, most notable among them being forward Brandon Saad, it's starting to look like many faces that were expected to be gone could remain. According to a recent report from Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune the Blackhawks are starting to have a number of players willing to take home town discounts to stay within the winning organization, including players like Johnny Oduya. One Chicago reporter recently speculated that the Brandon Saad trade to Columbus , one that came almost instantly after Saad reportedly asked for $6 million per season, may have been a message to the locker room, and if it was it may be starting to work. Add to this the ability of Chicago to shed more salary in trades that would include Sharp, Versteeg and Bickell and Chicago could find itself in a very healthy position come next season.
