There is some great news regarding the health of Gordie Howe today. Gordie Howe is recovering following a second treatment at a stem cell clinic in Mexico, according to his son, Murray. "Our dad continues to participate in a clinical trial where stem cells are being used in the treatment of a stroke," Murray told Ken Campbell of The Hockey News in an email. "We’d like to wait until the first phase of that clinical trial is complete before providing any more updates. At this time, our dad is comfortable and happy. That remains our goal. We want to thank everyone for their ongoing support for Mr. Hockey." The elder Howe suffered a serious stroke last October and his condition appeared dire, but he improved significantly after travelling to Mexico for a first round of stem cell treatment in December. The 87-year-old hockey legend attended a celebrity dinner in his honor in February. The plan following treatment is for Gordie to relocate from his daughter's home in Lubbock, Texas to Ohio, where Murray lives. Gordie will move into a nursing home that specializes in treatment for dementia, Murray told The Hockey News. The Hall of Famer could even attend a Detroit Red Wings game next season.
