Report: It sounds like the Rangers are trading defenseman K'Andre Miller

Thoughts, Blueshirts fans?

According to a report from NHL insider Cam Robinson, New York Rangers GM Chris Drury has let it be known around the league that defenseman K'Andre Miller is up for grabs via trade.

From Robinson at the NHL Draft Combine today:

I know that Miller rumors have been circulating for awhile now, but I've mostly dismissed them. But now... now I'm wondering if there's more to these rumors than I previously thought.

Personally, it seems crazy to me that the Rangers are considering trading Miller given their situation on the blue line. They have just Adam Fox and Will Borgen signed beyond next season and no real top prospects coming up from the minors. Miller is not a perfect defender but he's 25 years old and he has some solid NHL experience under his belt. He managed 43 points in 79 games just two seasons ago and has shown flashes of being one of the league's top offensive defenseman.

So... where will he end up?

There were rumors that the Vancouver Canucks were interested in Miller when they pulled off the JT Miller trade last season. While they missed out on a potential Miller for Miller swap, they could circle back this offseason to finalize the deal.

Or what about the Anaheim Ducks? There are rumors that the Ducks are looking to make a big splash this offseason and they are sorely lacking in quality players in Miller's age range.

Thoughts, Rangers fans?

Read below for our earlier report on the Rangers and their hiring of assistant coaches David Quinn, Ty Hennes and Joe Sacco this morning.

It's been nearly a month since the New York Rangers announced their hiring of new head coach Mike Sullivan and today Sullivan has unveiled his assistant coaching staff for the 2025-26 season.

While there were rumors that former long-time Rangers head coach John Tortorella would join Sullivan's staff, that doesn't appear to be the case. Tortorella was not amongst the names announced today, but another former Rangers head coach, David Quinn, was named to Sullivan's staff. Quinn joins former Pittsburgh Penguins assistant Ty Hennes and former Boston Bruins interim-head coach Joe Saccco to round out Sullivan's staff.

From Rangers insider Peter Baugh:

Thoughts, Blueshirts fans?

I thought for sure we'd get a Sullivan and Tortorella reunion and now I'm not sure entirely what Tortorella's NHL future looks like. I imagine he's still holding out hope for a head coaching offer this upcoming offseason? Stay tuned.
