Report: Jagr admits regret for passing over Original 6 team

Prior to last night’s 8-2 blowout between the Calgary Flames and Detroit Red Wings, 45-year-old veteran Jaromir Jagr was asked an interesting question by the Detroit media, “were there any times in your career where you wanted to sign here [in Detroit]?”.

Jagr was open and honest with his answer saying, “After I came back from Russia there was a big chance, I was pretty close. I always wanted to play with Datsyuk, back then I played first line and thought it could have been special.”

Wow… could you imagine? Jagr, Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg. That would have been an INCREDIBLE line! Keep in mind this was nearly 10 years ago when each of those individual players were at the peak of their abilities. As it is, Jagr signed with the Philadelphia Flyers and the rest is history.

Still… we can’t help but think of what might have been.
