Report: Joe Thornton to be named co-GM of Team Canada

This just in from TSN NHL insider Pierre LeBrun, Hockey Canada is expected to name former NHL superstar Joe Thornton as the nation's co-GM for the upcoming Spengler Cup in Davos, Switzerland next month.

From LeBrun:

Thornton served in the same role last year, leading Canada to a semi-final finish. 

What you may not know about Thornton is that he and his family actually live in Switzerland part-time, as his wife Tabea Pfendsack is a Swiss native. The couple met while Thornton was playing for HC Davos during the 2004-05 lockout. Thornton actually carries three nationalities: Canadian, American and Swiss.
