Report: John Scott rule will be introduced for the All-Star game.

Last year's incredible Cinderella story will impact this year's All-Star game.

The performance of National Hockey League enforcer John Scott at the NHL's most recent All-Star game will be one that those who witnessed it will remember for a very long time.

The impact he had will also be long lasting, and on Tuesday the NHL announced that they would be introducing a new rule to precent the situation from repeating itself, and frankly we aren't sure we believe that is a good idea. While it has not been officially announced, The Hockey News' Ken Campbell reports that some form of rule will be implemented.

From Campbell:

But thn.com has learned that might not be the case. And it all centers around the definition of a “bona fide NHL player.” As was told to thn.com by a league source, “There will be parameters put around what it means to be an NHL player. The intent is to allow populist voting if that’s what the fans want to do, but players elected have to be bona fide NHLers.”

That means that a Cinderella story like the one that happened to Scott could not be repeated again, and while that will keep the Scott story special, it will also prevent fans from voting in who they want, with no exceptions.

This may me the last such moment we ever see.
