The Philadelphia Flyers will be showcasing the debut of an undrafted rookie this evening.

For Roman Lyubimov it will be his first oppurtunity to prove he belongs at the National Hockey League level after being a healthy scratch in all of Philadelphia's regular season games thus far.

With the announcement that Nick Cousins will be out of the line up as a healthy scratch, it appears that Lyubimov will; be his replacement, and he will be joining both Boyd Gordon and Chris VandeVelde on the fourth line according to Flyers insider Tim Panaccio.

The 24 year old forward was valued in the Kontinental Hockey League for his ability to play on both sides of the ice, while particularly strong in his own end, and it seems likely the Flyers will use him in a similar shut down role, although that is mere speculation. One thing is certain the Flyers are hopeful they are setting him up to succeed.

“We wanted to make sure it was the right time for our team for him to go in,” said head coach Dave Hakstol. “This is a good opportunity for him to go in. … It’s a sensible time to put Lubey in on the right side of the fourth line.”
