The National Hockey League had a trade transaction of Friday but most NHL fans were sound asleep when it happened. 

In the early hours of the morning, roughly 2 am, the Vancouver Canucks and Los Angeles Kings pulled off a player for player deal, trading a forward for a defenseman.

Going to the Canucks will be 27-year-old forward Nic Dowd who has appeared in 16 games for Kings this season, recording no goals and 1 assist for a total of 1 point and a plus minus rating of -3.

Going back the other way will be 22-year-old defenseman Jordan Subban, the brother of P.K Subban and Malcom Subban. Jordan has spent his entire pro career since being drafted in the American Hockey League and he has no goals and 5 assists for a total of 5 points and a plus minus rating of -3 in 16 games this season.
