Report: L.A. Kings have named their new captain after stripping Brown of the “C.”

The Los Angeles Kings appear to have turned the page on the Dustin Brown chapter of their story, and as rumors of a potential buyout continue to swirl around the once dynamic forward, the Kings have moved forward in a new direction.

In an official statement via the team's website the Kings announced that forward Anze Kopitar, who just signed a big new deal, will inherit the C and become the Kings captain for the foreseeable future.

LA Kings center Anze Kopitar has assumed the role as the team’s new captain, Kings President and General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.

Kopitar inherits the role from Dustin Brown, who has served as the club’s captain since 2008.  He becomes the 14th different captain in Kings history.

Kopitar is set to begin his 11th season with the Kings, and he’s served as an assistant captain for the team since 2008.

This was the move that many expected, and as a result it will likely be very well received, in fact some fans had been calling for this very move prior to the start of the 2015-2016 campaign.
