The Toronto Maple Leafs appear like they are ready to give enforcer Richard Clune another shot for the 2016-2017 season.

On Monday the Toronto Marlies announced that they had signed Clune to an American Hockey League deal, much like he did last year. That time Clune proved he could be useful in a niche role, and would go on to crack the National Hockey League roster appearing in several games for the Leafs.

It would have appeared that a player like Clune would be less desired by an organization like Toronto after signing former Islanders forward Matt Martin to a four year deal, but despite that they are bringing Clune back, perhaps as a depth option.

The details of the deal were not made public.
